Benazir Bhutto: Bin Laden was Murdered – 2nd November 2007

From the Video :
“Tried to email Al-Jazeera for clarification of this claim. As yet NO response. After the BBC censored this clip and then reinstated it, then some of them now claiming they NEVER censored it, the mystery DEEPENS. With Benazir Bhutto assassinated the motive arises in that she quite clearly leads not only her death to the door of the Pakistanis but also responsibility for the 9/11 attacks are implicated as well. Aired on 2nd November 2007,David Frost the presenter did not challenge her on her assertion (2:14) that Bin Laden was murdered, so maybe he was and the West has not announced it. ”

The assassination of Benazir Bhutto occurred on 27 December 2007

“The social atmosphere is that of a besieged city.. And at the same time the consciousness of being at war, and therefore in danger, makes the handing-over of all power to a small caste seem the natural, unavoidable condition of survival.”

“On January 15, 2010, the Federal Bureau of Investigation published digitally aged pictures of Osama bin Laden and Atiyah Abd Al-Rahman on its website which they claimed were produced using cutting edge technology. Spanish newspaper El Mundo revealed that a picture of Llamazares was taken from Google Images and used to create the image. The FBI has admitted to this and removed the image. An internal investigation has been launched by the FBI to find out if this was done intentionally.” 1998

ABC reporter John Miller recounts his May 1998 hour-long interview with Osama Bin Laden at his mountaintop camp in southern Afghanistan. The interview took place a little more than two months before Al Qaeda’s truckbombings of the two U.S. embassies in East Africa.

“Crimestop means the faculty of stopping short, as though by instinct, at the threshold of any dangerous thought. It includes the power of not grasping analogies, of failing to perceive logical errors, of misunderstanding the simplest arguments if they are inimical to Ingsoc, and of being bored or repelled by any train of thought which is capable of leading in a heretical direction. Crimestop, in short, means protective stupidity.

Starting off with with a the quote ““The rush of battle is a potent and often lethal addiction, for war is a drug.” From Chris Hedges’ book War is a Force that Gives us Meaning, his argument is graciously inserted it into the title.

From there begins to tell us the tale of Staff Sergeant William James named after America’s first important philosopher known for his theory of pragmatism.

Ending Spoiler:

“we see James back in the US shopping at a grocery store with Connie. She asks him to get some cereal. He gets to the cereal aisle but doesn’t know which one to get. At home, he does some yard work. He sits alone while the TV is static in the background. While preparing dinner, James talks about a suicide bomber passing out free candy to kids in Iraq. He detonated himself, killing about 59 people. He tells Connie that the army needs more bomb techs. Connie doesn’t want to hear about it. James plays with his baby boy and his toys. He tells his son that the things he loves now might not seem so special anymore when he grows up. James realizes that he only loves one thing. He goes back to the EOD unit in Iraq full of energy. He has 365 days until his service is over. The film ends with James, suited up, walking down the street in search of another bomb.”

“The Iraq War thriller The Hurt Locker won big at last night’s BAFTAs (British Oscars), winning Best Picture, Director, Original Screenplay, Cinematography, Editing and Sound.

It beat Avatar in almost every category. Avatar only picked up awards in Production Design and Special Visual Effects. Many see the BAFTAs as an early predictor for the Oscars. For weeks smart money was on The Hurt Locker sweeping the Oscars, and now that seems even more likely.”

“With The Hurt Locker, Bigelow became the first woman to win the Academy Award for Best Director, the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directing, the BAFTA Award for Best Direction, and the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Director.

In April 2010, Bigelow was named to the Time 100 list of most influential people of the year.”

“So, who got a bump from Oscar to land on TIME’s 100 Most Influential?

Kathryn Bigelow, who lands at number 3 for artists. This is due to many things, but mainly and most importantly becoming the first woman in 82 years to win a Best Directing Oscar, and the only woman to ever direct a Best Picture winner.

Oliver Stone pays tribute:

Kathryn Bigelow’s career journey has been a stark one. An artist by training, she became a Hollywood darling with the neo-vampiric Near Dark. Her passion for films that challenge conventional sympathies (crooked cops, a heroic Russian submarine commander) led to long spells of being shunned by the studios. But Bigelow, 58, always found her way back. And with The Hurt Locker, her first feature in seven years, she captured the intense, skewered madness of war and the distortion in men’s souls. The result was two richly deserved Oscars.

Yet despite enormous accolades, her film is considered a financial failure — like all films about the Iraq war. The question lingers: Why, despite our country’s love affair with violence, do Americans refuse to see these realistic films? With The Hurt Locker, Bigelow unflinchingly stuck her finger in the tragic heart of a national wound — our inability to face ourselves.

Hurt Locker unrealistic, real EOD technicians watch it & laugh

Stone’s new film, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, will be released this fall.

The only other Oscar contenders to make the list was Neill Blomkamp at 16, Sandra Bullock at 22, and Jim Cameron at 25.  Their tributes, after the cut.” taken by Zeus.

“The mutability of the past is the central tenet of Ingsoc. Past events, it is argued, have no objective existence, but survive only in written records and in human memories. The past is whatever the records and the memories agree upon. And since the Party is in full control of all records and in equally full control of the minds of its members, it follows that the past is whatever the Party chooses to make it. It also follows that though the past is alterable, it has never been altered in any specific instance. For when it has been recreated in whatever shape is needed at the moment, then this new version is the past, and no different past has ever existed.”

“In the poetry of the story of the Tower of Babel the capacity of language for meaning is at a zenith. Syntax and content merge to demonstrate both the imperative and the impossibility of translation. The composer of this vivid allegory has repeatedly conjugated verbs to form words with associative meanings that touch their referents like tangents of a circle – only at a single point but extending to infinity.

In Jacques Derrida’s “Des Tours de Babel”, “Babel” is translated “confusion”. There are two versions of Andre Chouraqui’s translation of the Bible into French. In the version that Derrida used and cited in his essay, the word “confusion” is inserted, in English, after the calling of the name “Babel”. In the on-line version of Chouraqui’s translation there is no such insertion and certainly in the Hebrew, there is no word there to correspond. Two questions arise. One, is there any way to translate “Babel” with “confusion” and two, why this confusion about confusion, what does it hold together?

“Babel”, bet, bet, lamed, is a proper name. It names the place. It is derived from the Akkadian “babilu” for “gate of God”. It is distinct from the word for “confuse” or “confound” which is “balal”, bet, lamed, lamed. The Hebrew verb “balal”, to confuse or to mix, is from Akkadian, Arabic, Phoenician and/or Syriac roots. It is most likely that these two similar words and their meanings have become conflated only since the writing of the story of the Tower of Babel which employs them in a pun.

The second question is the more difficult, partly because Derrida leaves aside a decisive investigation of the conflation of Babel with confusion in favour of a reading of Benjamin’s “Task of the Translator”. But, there Derrida brings together the confounding of language and the gate of God by suggesting that the call for translation and the debt invoked, the inadequacies of language to truth – and to language – ARE the gate of God. Possibly, these could be held together in a number of ways.”

Language is inadequate to truth.

The name Shia is Hebrew for “gift from God” (שי-יה), and the surname LaBeouf is a corruption of “le bœuf”, the French term for “the ox” or “the beef”.

“William Laughead, an advertising copywriter who had once worked in lumber camps, took the stories of an old lumberjack and reworked them into the modern Paul Bunyan character. He sold his character to the Red River Lumber Company, which published “Introducing Mr. Paul Bunyan of Westwood, California” in 1916 as an advertising pamphlet. Among other things, Laughead gave the name “Babe” to the Blue Ox, and created the first pictorial representation of Bunyan. Authors Richard Dorson and Marshall Fitwick cite Paul Bunyan as an example of “fakelore”, or a modern story passed off as an older folktale.”

“In 2003, he (Shia) appeared in another Disney production, Holes, as Stanley “Caveman” Yelnats IV, opposite Jon Voight. While filming Holes, Voight lent LaBeouf acting books that turned him on to the notion that acting could be about more than just a paycheck. Steven Spielberg was a fan of LaBeouf in Holes, saying he reminded him of a young Tom Hanks.”

“In Bobby LaBeouf’s character goes on a LSD trip and strips naked, showing his backside.LaBeouf said that his father helped him act out the scene involving him on a LSD trip, saying “My father was very descriptive about the high and what happens, and he broke down the timeline for me.” He also stated that he never considered using a body double for the nude scene.” and Gekko down the Rabbit Hole.

“A usually staid weekly Papal audience was spiced up this week with an acrobatic performance by a troupe of topless men. The four performers dressed in white suits walked across the stage towards the Papal throne and surprised the Pope by whipping off their shirts before beginning an acrobatic performance on Tuesday. The Pope looked on as the men hoisted each other into the air, one on top of the other, three high.”

“Emmanuel Goldstein is always the subject of the “Two Minutes Hate,” a daily, 2-minute period beginning at 11:00 AM at which some image of Goldstein is shown on the telescreen (a one-channel television with surveillance devices in it that can not be turned off except possibly by members of the inner party). It is thought that the opposition to Big Brother—namely, Goldstein—was simply a construction, which ensured that support and devotion towards Big Brother was continuous. It is never revealed whether this is true. In fact, O’Brien adamantly refuses to reveal whether or not The Brotherhood truly exists when asked by Winston in the torture room:  ”

(Winston) “Does the Brotherhood exist?”
(O’Brien) “That, Winston, you will never know. If we choose to set you free when we have finished with you, and if you live to be ninety years old, still you will never learn whether the answer to that question is Yes or No. As long as you live it will be an unsolved riddle in your mind.” KING 84

“Fifty years ago, when I was a boy, it seemed completely self-evident that the bad old days were over, that torture and massacre, slavery, and the persecution of heretics, were things of the past. Among people who wore top hats, traveled in trains, and took a bath every morning such horrors were simply out of the question. After all, we were living in the twentieth century. A few years later these people who took daily baths and went to church in top hats were committing atrocities on a scale undreamed of by the benighted Africans and Asiatics. In the light of recent history it would be foolish to suppose that this sort of thing cannot happen again. It can and, no doubt, it will. But in the immediate future there is some reason to believe that the punitive measures of 1984 will give place to the reinforcements and manipulations of Brave New World.” – Aldous Huxley.

Ridley Scott Confirms He’s Making Brave New World

We got the chance to ask science fiction legend Ridley Scott for an exclusive update on his adaptation of Aldous Huxley’s classic dystopian novel Brave New World. While he’s still knee-deep in the details of the adaptation, he’s already got some strong opinions — including his view that Brave New World is closer to the truth than George Orwell’s 1984. So what does Scott have in mind for his Brave New World?

Welcome to the Age of Aquarius, A Brave New Flood on Consciousness.
